Nowitzki signed a two-year, $ 50-million deal with the franchise over the summer, with the second year of the contract being a team option for $ 25 million. Only $ 5 million would be guaranteed should he elect to retire at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
He’s worn Mavericks colors for 18 seasons, and currently ranks as the team’s all-time leader in a number of statistical categories, including games played (1,340), minutes (47,249), points (29,491), and rebounds (10,540).
